A few weeks ago the petrolhead took a huge step in purchasing this former SCCA ITS Class Winning Z Race Car. We finally unloaded the car off the trailer, gave it a bath, and took some shots!
The car means all business, even when just sitting on a driveway. The car sits on a period coil over system, that we are sure Ground Control mimic’ed. Camber plates also allow for negative camber, much needed for heavy track duty!
A full period spec 6-point roll cage will ensure driver safety. To add a little insurance, the last owner added what he called a “peddy” bar from the roof to the bottom corner of the passenger floor pan. We do envision removing this bar, as we would like to take curious viewers for rides!
We didn’t expect her to be that perfect! Chips and dents are welcomed on a veteran racer. The frames are perfectly straight with no damage to the core chassis.
We are torn on whether to keep the vintage race decals that it proudly wore during its race period in 80′s and 90′s.
The paint did not turn out half bad after rubbing it out with compound and applying wax!
Stay tuned for our August 12th track day with Northern California Racing Club (NCRC) as she returns to Thunderhill Raceway to hopefully set records once again!
Very nice Z, thanks for sharing!
